In High School I planned to follow in my father’s footsteps and get a factory job. I really didn't care for academics but, due to my success in playing football, I attended the College of San Mateo for 1 1/2 years and played football well enough to earn a scholarship at Utah State University. It was there that I realized I could graduate from College and enter the teaching profession.

I have been married three times. Had a son and daughter from the first marriage but divorced after 12 years. I was then married for 17 years when she died of Cancer. The third marriage ended after seven years. I’m now single and my interests include ballroom dancing, bridge, golf, travel and gardening. I have one granddaughter.
