Pat Brooks Weld
My
"been there, done that" list includes:
Single
living and working in San Francisco for four years, then married. I have a
biological daughter with a Master's Degree (now a counselor) and an adopted son
who works when the spirit moves him. He lives on Kauai. Divorced after 25 years
of marriage.
I
obtained several degrees. Both of my parents taught me when I was a little girl
that my job was to take advantage of the opportunity to learn.
I've
owned three businesses and had eight houses (not at the same time). I'm
especially proud of my volunteer position of 12 years with the Santa Clara
County Girl Scout organization. As a member of the Board of Directors I
initiated the idea of scholarships for high school graduating seniors in Girl
Scouts. It helped retain membership. Other organizations i.e. Boy Scouts, etc.
followed suit a year or two later.
My
Grandpa left me an inheritance so I bought a Porsche and drove it 27 years.
Now
married to Chris Weld (Cap Class of '61) who I met at Old Edgemont Elementary
when we were in Kindergarten and first grade and reunited at 46 and 47 years
old. Yes, we were high school sweethearts. Chris's passion for motorcycling led
me to the pillion seat of his motorcycle for 10 years and over 50,000 miles of
traveling our United States and Canada. I married Chris after 13 years of
playing house. We make our home in Pacifica and enjoy our summer home in Old
Station, CA.
The
year 2010 has been a test of my will to live. Diagnosed with cancer in March I
met the challenge of seven weeks of radiation and 11 hours of Chemotherapy. I
dropped from 150 lbs. to 105 lbs. by June. I am now in remission.
Thank
you Lord! I want more time with family and friends and watch my two granddaughters
grow.
